CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Pickaway County Common Pleas Court has announced the appointment of Samuel Fulknier as its newest Adult Probation Officer.

Judge Matthew H. Chafin announced Fulknier’s hiring on June 8, noting that he fills a vacancy created by the recent retirement of a probation officer within the department.

According to court officials, Fulknier brings experience in both law enforcement and corrections, providing a strong foundation for his new role supervising adult offenders within the county.

“We are thrilled to have an officer with such a strong foundation in both law enforcement and corrections join our team,” Chafin said. “His experience ensures that he is well-equipped to uphold the Court’s standards of supervision and contribute to the safety of our residents.”

As an Adult Probation Officer, Fulknier will supervise felony offenders placed under community supervision by the court. His responsibilities will include monitoring compliance with court-ordered conditions and helping connect individuals with treatment, rehabilitation, and other support services designed to reduce recidivism and promote successful reintegration into the community.

Chief Probation Officer Kurt Stewart said Fulknier’s familiarity with local agencies and court operations will allow him to quickly transition into the position.

“Probation Officer Fulknier’s existing relationships and familiarity with how our local courts and agencies operate allows him to hit the ground running and immediately contribute to our efforts in adult supervision,” Stewart said.

The Adult Probation Department serves as the community corrections division of the Pickaway County Common Pleas Court. In addition to supervising felony offenders, the department oversees programs and resources aimed at addressing substance abuse, mental health concerns, and other challenges that can contribute to criminal behavior.

Among those services is the Pickaway County Drug Court program, which provides treatment-focused supervision for eligible offenders while promoting accountability and public safety.

Court officials said the addition of Fulknier will help the department continue its mission of supporting offender rehabilitation while protecting the community.
