CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Families and individuals throughout Ross County will have an opportunity to receive free brand-new merchandise this weekend as First Baptist Church of Chillicothe hosts a community giveaway event.
The Free Brand-New Item Giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, at noon in the Central Center parking lot. The event is sponsored by First Baptist Church and community partners and will provide a variety of new items at no cost while supplies last.
According to organizers, the giveaway will include brand-new electronics, clothing, household goods, and other merchandise obtained from major retailers, including Amazon and Costco. Church leaders emphasized that all items are new, and nothing will be sold during the event.
Pastor Moses D. Edwards Jr., senior pastor of First Baptist Church, said the giveaway is intended to support local families and demonstrate the church’s commitment to serving the community.
“We believe the church is supposed to show up for people, not just on Sunday morning but right in the middle of everyday life,” Edwards said. “A lot of families in our community are stretched thin. Putting a brand-new item in someone’s hands is one simple way to say, ‘You matter, and you are not forgotten.'”
Organizers are encouraging residents to pre-register by scanning the QR code on the event flyer to help the church prepare for attendance and distribute items as efficiently as possible. However, walk-ins will be welcome as long as supplies remain available.
The church is also seeking volunteers to assist with setup, item distribution, hospitality, and cleanup efforts throughout the day.
“This is not a handout. It is a hand of fellowship,” Edwards said. “When we put good things in people’s hands for free, we are putting the love of Christ on display in a way anybody can understand.”
The event is part of the church’s ongoing outreach efforts and community support initiatives. Founded in 1824, First Baptist Church of Chillicothe has served the community for more than 200 years and is located at 65 W. Fourth St. in downtown Chillicothe.
