
VIOLET TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 28-year-old woman was killed and a 21-year-old man was seriously injured following a wrong-way crash on U.S. Route 33 in Fairfield County early Saturday morning.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 12:44 a.m. near Mile Post 5 in Violet Township.
Investigators said Bailey Johnston, 28, was driving a 2016 Hyundai Sonata westbound in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 33 when her vehicle collided head-on with an eastbound 2022 Chevrolet Colorado driven by a 21-year-old man.
Johnston was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office and the Bloom Township Fire Department.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
