WALNUT TOWNSHIP, OH — A two-vehicle collision on US 23 Tuesday afternoon left a local motorcyclist with serious injuries after he was thrown from his bike and struck an SUV’s windshield.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:34 p.m. on July 28, 2026, in Walnut Township, just north of Circleville.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol report filed by Trooper Muhammad Ali, a 2014 Honda CR-V driven by Christopher Michael Clark, 48, of Bainbridge, was traveling southbound on US 23. Investigators state that Clark attempted to make a left turn through the highway crossover to enter a private driveway, failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
As the Honda CR-V turned, it crossed into the path of a northbound 2022 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Isaiah David Veselica, 25, of Circleville.
The motorcycle struck the front right side of the Honda SUV at an angle. The impact violently dislodged Veselica from his motorcycle, throwing him forward into the CR-V’s front windshield before he landed on the roadway.
Emergency personnel from the Circleville Fire Department responded to the scene. Veselica, who was wearing a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash, sustained suspected serious injuries and was rushed by EMS to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment.
Clark and his passenger, Annette Marie Messer, 65, also of Bainbridge, were reportedly uninjured in the crash. Both were wearing their proper lap and shoulder safety belts, and the vehicle’s airbags did not deploy.
Trooper Ali cited Clark at the scene for failure to yield the right-of-way when turning left (Ohio Revised Code 4511.42). Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected factors in the collision, and weather conditions were listed as cloudy but dry at the time of the incident.
Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Scioto Valley and ANS Towing, respectively. The highway was fully cleared by 5:59 p.m.
