Arnold “Gary” Carter 80 of Galloway, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, August 11, 2017. Gary was born September 23, 1936 in Jesse, West Virginia to the late William and Grada (Cook) Carter. Gary was an active member of the Alkire Road Church of Christ where he served as a long-time Elder. Gary retired after many years with Battelle Memorial Institute as a nuclear engineer designer in Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Rita (Love) Carter, their children, Randall Gary (Karen) Carter, Denise (Ned) Herald, all of Columbus, and Jim (Mindy) Carter of Apex, North Carolina; grandchildren, Amanda (Gordon) Rogers, Brian Herald (fiance’ Sami Koban), Megan (Justin) Reynolds, Kevin Herald, Robbie (Kayla) Carter, and Nick Giamoni; great grandchildren, Eddie, Drew, Ryelee, David, Michael, and Stella, and numerous nieces.   Gary and Rita enjoyed the winter months in Florida and calling his family to tell them how warm it is. Gary had a great sense of humor, loved to garden and ‘fix things’ around the house, and spend time with his family. But Gary especially loved his Lord and has earned his reward with Him in heaven. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Monday, August 14, at Spence-Miller Funeral Home, 2697 Columbus Street, Grove City, Ohio. Funeral service at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Alkire Road Church of Christ, 2779 Alkire Road, Grove City, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Mark Bass officiating. Graveside service 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 16 in Rome-Proctorville Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio.
