JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Two drivers were transported to Grant Medical Center with suspected serious injuries late Monday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision at an intersection in Jackson Township.
According to a crash report released by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at approximately 4:27 p.m. on October 19, 2026, at the intersection of Commercial Point Road and State Route 104.
Investigators determined that 57-year-old Serhiy Kachan, of Galloway, was driving a red 2024 Tesla Model Y westbound on Commercial Point Road approaching SR 104. Deputy Edward Moore reported that Kachan failed to yield at the posted stop sign and pulled into the intersection directly into the path of oncoming traffic.
At the same time, 64-year-old Scott Allan Kingery, of Frankfort, was traveling southbound on SR 104 in a white 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. Kingery was unable to avoid the collision, striking the right side of Kachan’s Tesla with the front of his pickup truck.

The impact forced both vehicles off the southwest corner of the intersection, sending them through the roadside and into an adjacent cornfield. Both vehicles came to rest on their wheels facing south. Both the Tesla and the pickup truck sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Amnesty Towing.
Emergency medical services, including squad M-801 and Medic 1, responded to the scene and transported both Kachan and Kingery to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment of suspected serious injuries. Both drivers were wearing shoulder and lap seatbelts at the time of the crash, and side and front airbags deployed in both vehicles.
Deputies noted in the report that Kachan was interacting with an electronic device prior to the crash, which was cited as a contributing factor alongside the failure to stop at the sign. The Tesla was not operating in an autonomous mode at the time of the collision. Neither driver was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
First responders spent over three hours at the scene, clearing the intersection by 7:57 p.m. The crash remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
