It is with great sorrow we announce that Timothy David McGinnis, Senior, 59, of Kingston, Ohio, passed away and went home to be with His Savior on April 17, 2026, at his home with his wife by his side. He bravely fought cancer and its effects for 13 years, not allowing it to diminish his presence, impact or testimony.
Timothy was born on June 21, 1966, in Detroit, Michigan, to William and Carolyn McGinnis (Cannon). He lived a life marked and driven by an endless passion for service unto the Lord and his family. As we mourn his loss, we remember him as a selfless and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, pastor and friend.
The ripples of the Lord’s impact through him cannot be measured. He was truly deeply loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Monica Babette McGinnis (Petzold), his children Rebecca (Steven) Culp , Timothy (Elise) McGinnis, Jr., Nathaniel (Toni) McGinnis, Meredith (Ross) Picklesimer; grandchildren Judah, Malachi, Charlotte, Antoinette, Aria, Asher, Corbin, Emmalee, Evelyn, Cooper, and Steven; his father William (Carolyn) Lee McGinnis, siblings Bill (Janie) McGinnis and Melinda (Thomas) Berry, and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn McGinnis.
Tim met his would be wife, Monica, as teenagers in Plainwell, Michigan, where they attended church and worked in a bicycle shop together. Their friendship deepened to the point where they both knew they did not want to go through life without the other. They married in 1985 and celebrated 40 years of marriage together.
Tim was a loving minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ for 36 years. He, Monica and their four children planted New Life Church in Circleville, Ohio in February of 2000. Tim and Monica lovingly and passionately served as lead pastors of New Life for 25 years. Tim enjoyed getting away on trips with Monica, preaching God’s word, making others laugh, golfing, and playing with his grandchildren.
His love, guidance, and presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
