HOCKING – Police reports for the week of November 9th through 15th.
November 9, 2019
Deputies responded to a burglary complaint at a Huffines Rd. residence. Deputies processed the scene and collected evidence. The case remains under investigation by the detective bureau.—–
November 11, 2019
Deputies responded to a Parkway Dr. residence for a theft of medication complaint. The victim provided deputies with suspects, but has no evidence of their involvement at this time.—–
November 12, 2019
Deputies responded to a Sam’s Creek Rd. residence for an identity theft complaint. The victim told deputies that they received a telephone call in which they were told they had won $1.7 million in a Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes. They were also told they needed their bank account information. The victim did not have a bank account and instead provided their social security number and date of birth. The victim was told this was a case of identity theft and told to call the credit bureau’s to report a case of identity theft.—–
November 12, 2019
A SR 595 resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a vehicle theft. The victim had loaned a vehicle to an acquaintance and they had not returned the vehicle. The vehicle was entered into NCIC and the case remains under investigation.—–

Deputies were contacted by South Central Power regarding a theft of electrical services from a residence on Goose Creek Rd. The worker told deputies that the power had been discontinued for lack of payment in April and the meter was bypassed. Deputies observed the tampering with the meter box and illegal wiring. The case remains under investigation.—–
November 13, 2019
Deputies responded to Hocking Hills State Park campground for a recovered firearm. The firearm had been located in a restroom stall. The firearm was placed into the evidence room.—–

Deputies responded to a SR 56 residence for an unruly child complaint. The child, in the custody of grandparents, refused to go to school. Deputies transported the child to school and a copy of the report was forwarded to Children’s Services.—–

Deputies responded to a SR 180 residence for a missing person. Deputies collected the needed information, entered the person into NCIC and the investigation is ongoing.—–
November 14, 2019
Deputies responded to a SR 664 residence for a well-being check. Deputies transported one person to HVCH for evaluation.—–
November 15, 2019
Deputies received a potential missing person complaint from a relative of a resident. Deputies began an investigation and attempted to locate the person, Stacey Scurlock, 33, white female 5’4” 240 lbs. She was last seen driving a green 2006 Ford Escape with Ohio registration GWK7661. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Scurlock should call the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office at (740) 385-2131 or your local law enforcement agency.
