BUCKSKIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A late-night moped crash in western Ross County left two men injured after their motorized cycle veered off the road and overturned into a ditch Friday night.

The single-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. on June 26, 2026, on Westfall Road (County Road 60), roughly a quarter-mile north of County Road 54 in Buckskin Township.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol traffic crash report, 28-year-old Robert B. Love of Chillicothe was operating a blue 2009 Qianjiang moped southeast on Westfall Road when the vehicle went off the right side of the wet blacktop.

The narrative states that Love managed to travel back onto the roadway but overcorrected, causing the moped to overturn. After flipping, the vehicle careened back off the right side of the road before striking a ditch, causing functional damage to the moped.

Emergency Response and Injuries

Emergency crews from Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District rushed to the scene to treat the moped’s two occupants.

  • The Driver: Robert B. Love, 28, suffered suspected serious injuries. He was treated by medics before being transported to Adena Greenfield Medical Center.
  • The Passenger: Robert David Charles Love, 20, of South Salem, was riding in the secondary passenger position. He suffered minor injuries but did not require immediate emergency transport from the scene.

According to state troopers, neither man was wearing a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet at the time of the late-night crash.

Investigation Details

The report indicates that visibility was dark on the unlighted rural roadway, and the asphalt surface was wet from rain and cloudy weather conditions.

Trooper Joshua Muck investigated the accident, with state units remaining on the scene for over two hours until the site was fully cleared at 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Penwell’s Towing removed the damaged moped from the scene. No active traffic control or citations were noted at the immediate time of the report.
