Michael E. Logan passed away on Sunday, August 3 at the age of 70 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mike is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Ellen Frericks, and their children: Mary “Cory” So (Walter) of Circleville, Mary Jo Hampp of Lancaster, Adam (Kelly) of Pickerington, and Katie (Colin) Hedges of Circleville. He is also survived by his grandchildren—whom he loved deeply—Sydney, Grace, Ivy, Cameron, Gavin, and Mia.

Mike cherished his large family and is also survived by his brother Larry (Sheryl Wood) Logan; in-laws Mark (Joyce) Frericks, Kathy (Joe) Tomlinson, Tom (Sue) Frericks, Anne (Brad) Lamone, Sue (Jim) Lepesko, John (Lisa) Frericks, Jim (Denise) Frericks, David (Kim) Frericks, Matt (Grant) Frericks, and Tom Duffy; and dozens of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his cousins Jim (Rita) Stevens, Nancy (John) Brothers, and Sue Blythe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean A. and Francis M. Logan, and his nephew, T.J. Duffy.

Mike was born in Brookville, Pennsylvania on February 20, 1955. As his father transferred with Owens Illinois, the family moved frequently—living in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, and California—before settling in Circleville in 1970, which became Mike’s forever home. He graduated from Circleville High School in 1973 and later from Ohio Dominican University.

Serving as Mayor of Circleville from 1988 to 1991 was one of Mike’s proudest achievements. During his term, he reopened and expanded the city pool, rebuilt and opened the South Court Street fire station, completely remodeled the interior of City Hall, constructed the Pickaway Street bridge and the city garage on Clinton and Ohio Streets, and played a key role in the creation of the county’s economic development entity that evolved into P3. He also proudly led the Pumpkin Show parades during his time in office.

Mike was a founding board member of the Pickaway County Community Foundation. His service deepened his appreciation for the generosity of local residents and strengthened his belief in the Foundation’s mission of Pickaway County people helping Pickaway County people.

Later, he served as Executive Director of PICCA, where he was proud of the organization’s infrastructure growth, job creation, and financial strength under his leadership.

A devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mike served in many roles including Eucharistic Minister, lector, usher, Sunday School teacher, and as a member of both the Finance Committee and Parish Council.

Since 2003, Mike found great joy helping both first-time and veteran home buyers and sellers in Pickaway County. Real estate was not just a career—it was his passion. In his later years, he was honored to work alongside Ashley VanCleve, his assistant and colleague.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the incredible care team at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital for walking with Mike through the last 17 months of his journey—especially Dr. Timothy Voorhees, Miranda Bradach, APRN-CNP, nurse caseworker Melanie Cunningham—and to Fairhope Hospice for their compassionate support in his final weeks.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, followed by a Celebration of Life at the So residence:
