Waverly OH- Suspect Arrested in Weekend Shooting That Left One Injured

Waverly OH- Interim Police Chief John Winfield reports that the Waverly Police Department was dispatched to the area of 238 Saint Mary’s Lane regarding a possible shooting. Witnesses stated two male subjects were involved in an altercation in the roadway, which lead to one of the individuals being shot. When officers arrived in the area, contact was made with the victim, who was identified as Blaine Hubbard III. Hubbard sustained a gunshot wound in the neck area. Hubbard was transported to Adena Pike ER by Medicare EMS and was later flown to Grant Medical Center Hospital.

The suspect was located in the area of 241 Saint Mary’s Lane. The suspect regarding this incident was identified as Deric Lansing. Lansing was taken into custody without incident by Waverly officers and Pike County deputies. Lansing was transported to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and later transported to the Butler County Jail. Lansing was charged with Felonious Assault and will appear in the Pike County Court on Monday, May 24th, 2021. This case will be submitted to the Pike County Prosecutor’s office once the investigation is complete.
