SALT CREEK TOWNSHIP, OH – A Sabina man was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries Wednesday afternoon following a high-speed motorcycle accident in Pickaway County.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:17 p.m. on April 15, 2026, on State Route 56 East, near milepost 28 in Salt Creek Township.

The Incident

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol report filed by Trooper Dusty Turner, 35-year-old Dakota T. Huston was traveling westbound on a black 2025 Suzuki Hayabusa. The investigation determined that Huston had just passed another vehicle at a high rate of speed—estimated at 100 mph in a 55 mph zone—when he lost control of the motorcycle.

The sequence of events was violent:

  • Huston “dropped” the bike in the roadway.
  • The motorcycle skidded left across the center line.
  • The vehicle slid off the left side of the road, striking a ditch and a wooden fence post.

Emergency Response

The crash resulted in serious suspected injuries for the rider. Due to the severity of the impact, MedFlight was called to the scene and transported Huston to OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus for emergency treatment.

Officials noted that Huston was wearing a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash, which likely prevented even more catastrophic injuries.

Charges and Investigation

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has cited Huston for Operating a Vehicle Without Reasonable Control (ORC 4511.202). Testing for alcohol and drugs, but the report indicates no impairment was suspected; the primary contributing factor was identified as unsafe speed and failure to control the high-performance motorcycle.

The roadway was closed for over two hours while Fletcher’s Towing removed the disabled Suzuki and troopers cleared the debris. The investigation was officially closed at 4:22 p.m.
