While many calls involved routine patrols and wellness checks, the weekend saw several serious incidents, including an arrest on West Main Street and multiple hit-and-run accidents.
Arrests and Criminal Activity
The most significant police action occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning. Around 1:05 a.m. on April 18, officers responded to a report of a suspicious person on West Main Street, which resulted in an arrest.
Other criminal reports taken over the weekend include:
- Theft: Reports were filed for incidents on Town Street (Friday morning) and South Pickaway Street (Saturday evening).
- Vandalism: Property damage was reported on East Mound Street and Margaret Avenue on Friday.
- Breaking & Entering: Officers took a report for a B&E on East Mound Street at 10:33 a.m. Sunday morning.
- Fraud: A report was taken on East Mill Street Friday afternoon.
Traffic and Hit-Skip Accidents
Local roads kept officers busy with several collisions, two of which were “Hit-Skips” (hit-and-run accidents):
- Friday Morning: Two separate hit-skip accidents were reported on 3rd Avenue (one at 4:46 a.m. and another at 8:05 a.m.).
- Citations Issued: Non-injury accidents on South Court Street (Friday night) and East Main Street (Saturday morning) resulted in officers issuing citations.
Domestic and Juvenile Issues
Police were called to several domestic disturbances and juvenile-related issues throughout the weekend:
- Domestic Trouble: Officers responded to calls on Renick Avenue Friday morning and York Street Saturday evening.
- Runaway Juvenile: A report was taken Sunday night for a runaway/unruly juvenile on South Washington Street.
- Disturbances: Reports of trespassing and disturbances were handled on North Court Street and Tower Court.
Emergency and Health Transports
At least two calls over the weekend required medical intervention:
- Saturday Night: A well-being check on North Court Street led to a squad transporting an individual to the hospital.
- Sunday Night: A suspicious person call on South Court Street was determined to be a mental health crisis, and the individual was transported by squad for medical care.
