Pike County – Man Passed Out in Roadway Runs from Sheriff Office when Woken

PIKE – A Portsmouth man was found passed out in the middle of the road when deputies woke him up he ran from them

According to Pike County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, May 5, Deputies were dispatched to the 6800 block of State Route 220 Waverly in reference to a male laying in the roadway.

Deputies responded and located a male that was laying partially in the roadway and was found to be unresponsive. The Deputy requested a squad to respond to treat the individual.

While waiting for the emergency crew the Deputy was able to wake the individual and attempted to identify him. The dispatcher returned information to the Deputy that the individual identified as 44-year-old Mickey Lee Ward from Portsmouth Ohio. Ward had a failure to appear warrant for a traffic charge out of Brown county. Ward then began to run away from the Deputy and a short foot pursuit began. An additional Deputy along with an Officer from the Waverly Police Department arrived on the scene and Ward was taken into custody.

Ward was transported to Adena Pike Emergency Room where he was treated and released. Ward was then transported to jail on the outstanding warrant with additional charges pending.
