CHILLICOTHE, OH — A Pickaway County secret indictment led to an arrest in Chillicothe on Thursday morning after police spotted a wanted suspect pulling through a local fast-food parking lot.
According to Chillicothe Police Officer Caleb Sizemore, the incident unfolded on September 10, 2026, when he observed a black 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 traveling north through the McDonald’s parking lot located at 1067 N. Bridge Street.
A routine Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) check on the truck’s Ohio license plate revealed that the vehicle was registered to 68-year-old James Johnson. System records confirmed Johnson was actively wanted on an outstanding Secret Indictment issued through the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office for grand theft.
After visually confirming that the driver matched the description of the elderly subject, Officer Sizemore initiated an investigative traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver, Sizemore confirmed his identity as Johnson and placed him into custody without incident.
Johnson was transferred to the custody of Officer Woodbridge, who transported him directly to the Pickaway County Jail to face his charges.
Johnson’s Dodge Ram was inventoried on-scene and towed to an impound lot by Penwell’s Towing.
