PLEASANT TOWNSHIP, OH — A Norwalk woman was transported to Grant Medical Center on Labor Day morning after a two-vehicle collision on Cincinnati-Zanesville Road in Pleasant Township.
According to a traffic crash report from the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred shortly before 6:45 a.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026, near Tent Church Road.
Deputies reported that 34-year-old Samantha Marian Sims, of Norwalk, was traveling eastbound on Cincinnati-Zanesville Road in a blue 2019 Subaru WRX when she crossed the centerline while negotiating a curve.
Her vehicle drifted into the westbound lane, striking the rear end and trailer of an oncoming 2025 GMC Sierra driven by 50-year-old Aaron Michael Carroll, of Rushville. Carroll reportedly attempted to avoid the impact by pulling toward the edge line of the roadway.
Sims suffered suspected serious injuries and was transported by Lancaster Fire/EMS to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for treatment. Carroll was uninjured in the crash.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision. Emergency responders cleared the scene in just under two hours, though the roadway was closed for approximately 90 minutes during the investigation and cleanup.
The crash remains under investigation by Deputy Colton Herring of the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office.
