PICKAWAY – Welcome news for taxpayers, the Pickaway County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the Pickaway County Budget Commission agreed to reduce the Board’s levy collection for property taxes paid. The Budget Commission approved a further rollback for tax collection in 2019. In 2018 tax collection was reduced by .5 mills and in 2019 an additional .5 mills reduction for a total of 1.0 mill. The reduction will save county residents nearly a million dollars in property taxes for this year.

The Board passed the last property tax levy in 2005 and for 14 years has not asked the voters for more money. PCBDD has experienced significant growth, with enrollment increasing by 240 percent. The agency, however, has been fiscally responsible and good stewards of the tax dollars collected. While growing and adding services and supports for people with disabilities, the Board has been able to increase carryover and made a decision in 2018 to collect only what is needed to maintain a balanced budget.

As always, the Board appreciates this community’s support.
