OHIO – Last year the overdose epidemic, which killed a record 5,215 Ohio residents in 2020, 5,017 has been linked to a mixture of Fentanyl in drugs.

Fentanyl can be found in most illegal drugs nowadays as a common additive to the mixture because of its cheap cost and effects, but the drug also can be found in fake legal drugs like Xanax, Valium, and Adderall which are being sold online as real or being manufactured locally.

Ohio has been fighting the overdose by stepping up home naloxone kits (Narcan) to help save lives from addiction. Most prevention advocates, police, fire, and probation departments carry at least one kit. In 2018 only around 40,000 kits were distributed in the state, in 2021 over 200,000 kits were distributed in a state-wide effort.

Ohio is on track to match the record-setting 2020 year of overdose deaths
