Ohio – Today, Matt Damschroder, Director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, unveiled an exciting opportunity for young Ohioans aged 27 and younger to kickstart their careers. The OhioMeansJobs.com “Gen Z” Virtual Career Fair is slated for May 8, and registration is now open.

Director Damschroder emphasized that registering before the event allows employers to review resumes in advance, potentially facilitating scheduled chats on the day of the fair. Over 60 employers from across the state have already committed to participating, offering a range of employment opportunities, including full-time positions, part-time roles, summer jobs, and internships.

Scheduled from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the career fair aligns with In-Demand Jobs Week, a statewide celebration spotlighting the jobs, industries, and skills currently in demand in Ohio.

Here’s how individuals can get involved:

For Job Seekers:

  • Visit this link and click “Register.”
  • Select the preferred area of employment within the state and connect with employers in that region.

For Employers:

In addition to the virtual career fair, Ohioans seeking employment can explore a plethora of free services available on OhioMeansJobs.com or at local OhioMeansJobs Centers. These services include job searches, skill and career interest assessments, resume creation and enhancement, interview practice, and access to other career fairs and hiring events.

Moreover, young job seekers in Ohio may qualify for the Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP), the state’s employment initiative for young adults. CCMEP offers an array of resources, including career coaching, job placement assistance, tuition support, mentoring, financial aid, transportation assistance, and more.
