NEW HOLLAND, OH — A Greenfield man faces enhanced domestic violence charges following a Wednesday evening response by law enforcement to a home on West Front Street in New Holland.
Pickaway County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 43-year-old Roger Allen Fillmore on September 16 and charged him with first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence. According to incident reports, the charge was elevated due to Fillmore having a prior domestic violence conviction on his record.
Deputies responded to the West Front Street residence around 7:13 p.m. after receiving reports of an active domestic dispute. Officers with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) assisted on scene until deputies arrived and located Fillmore pacing the sidewalk outside the home.
According to the police narrative, Fillmore initially admitted to returning to the residence to collect his belongings following an earlier argument and admitted to throwing a cup containing liquid that struck a woman in the face, causing a laceration to her lip. Fillmore claimed the act was accidental and alleged he had been struck first.
However, following interviews with witnesses on scene and an evaluation of the physical evidence—which included an active facial laceration on the victim, broken property inside the home, and smashed glass on the front door—deputies determined Fillmore was the primary physical aggressor. Witnesses informed deputies that Fillmore had struck the woman multiple times during the encounter and damaged property before officers arrived.
Fillmore was taken into custody without further incident at the scene and transported to the Pickaway County Jail. Officers noted in the report that Fillmore became verbally combative during transport and was booked into the facility where he awaits court proceedings.
