SALTCREEK TWP., OH — A high-speed pursuit spanning multiple jurisdictions ended late Monday night when a suspect driving a stolen luxury vehicle crashed into a guardrail in Pickaway County.
According to incident reports from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 34-year-old Hanley Dale Davis, of Circleville, following a pursuit on March 30. Davis faces multiple felony charges, including failure to comply with an order of a police officer and receiving stolen property, along with several traffic citations.
The incident began around 11:33 p.m. when Pickaway County Sheriff’s Corporal Morningstar spotted a 2021 gray Audi A5 near State Route 56 East and Shoemaker Road. Dispatch confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of the City of Circleville earlier that evening and had previously fled from the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Ross County.
When a Pickaway County deputy and a State Highway Patrol trooper attempted to block and stop the Audi, the driver bypassed the cruisers, ran a stop sign at State Route 56 and Tarlton Road, and fled westbound at high speeds.
Deputies deployed stop sticks near Old Tarlton Pike, but the driver managed to avoid them, turning south onto Hitler #1 Road. Deputies attempting to keep sight of the vehicle reported that the Audi was pulling away from pursuit cruisers at high speeds.
Moments later, pursuing deputies reached the intersection of Hitler #1 Road and Hitler #2 Road, where they located the Audi crashed directly into a guardrail on the south side of the intersection.
Deputies observed Davis walking away from the wreckage toward a patrol car. Before officers came to a complete stop, Davis surrendered by lying on the ground. Upon taking him into custody, deputies recovered two key fobs belonging to the stolen Audi in Davis’s pocket.
Davis was treated for minor facial injuries sustained in the crash by Pickaway Township EMS and was transported to Berger Hospital for medical clearance. According to supplemental reports from deputies, Davis made multiple voluntary statements regarding the vehicle during transport and medical evaluation.
After being cleared by medical staff, Davis was transported to the Pickaway County Jail. The stolen Audi was impounded for evidence. Following a grand jury presentation and court proceedings, records indicate Davis entered a guilty plea in the case last month and now is prepared for a PSI hearing on 9/16/26
