CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A reported fight over a bicycle on North Bridge Street led police to arrest a local man on an outstanding indictment warrant Thursday night.
Officers with the Chillicothe Police Department responded at approximately 10:06 p.m. on Oct. 29, 2026, to a call regarding an active physical dispute at 33 N. Bridge St.
At the scene, Travis Woodfork told responding officers that he had been in an argument with David Copp, who he claimed attempted to take his bicycle and pop its tires. A witness, Thomas Tennison, corroborated Woodfork’s account of the altercation.
Officers subsequently located Copp at his residence on Elm Street. During the investigation, dispatchers confirmed that Copp had an active secret indictment warrant out for his arrest.
Copp told police that the argument with Woodfork was purely verbal, stating he threw his knife on the ground and removed his sweatshirt before Woodfork struck him in the head. Officers noted visible swelling on Copp’s forehead consistent with his account.
Police arrested Copp at his home and transported him to the Ross County Jail, where he was served with the secret indictment warrant and remanded to the custody of jail staff.
Both Copp and Tennison were issued formal warnings for disorderly conduct in connection with the incident.
