Four-Vehicle Crash on I-71 Near Jeffersonville Sends Ten to Hospital

A serious collision involving four vehicles on Interstate 71 near Jeffersonville in Fayette County resulted in ten individuals being hospitalized, and one treated at the scene on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:13 p.m. yesterday on southbound I-71, just past the Jeffersonville exit (exit 69), according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).

At least three individuals were airlifted from the scene by helicopter to a nearby hospital, while the remaining seven injured individuals were transported by ambulance for medical treatment.

The crash reportedly involved two vehicles traveling northbound and two traveling southbound. Following the incident, I-71 South was fully closed at the Jeffersonville exit, as confirmed by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. However, OSHP has since announced the reopening of two left lanes on the southbound side.

First Responders on the scene, Jefferson Twp. Fire & EMS, Fayette County EMS, Silvercreek Twp Fire and EMS, Sterling Joint Ambulance, New Jasper Twp Fire & EMS, Careflight, MedFlight, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Fayette County Sheriffs Dept.

Law enforcement authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
