US – Another company is removing a lifetime iconic image due to, “inadvertently contributing to systemic racism.”

According to a press release from the company, “we are initiating an immediate review of the Cream of Wheat brand packaging. We understand there are concerns regarding the Chef image, and we are committed to evaluating our packaging and will proactively take steps to ensure that we and our brands do not inadvertently contribute to systemic racism. B&G Foods unequivocally stands against prejudice and injustice of any kind.”

The logo on the box depicts a dark black man in a white chef’s attire that has been mostly unchanged since the turn of the 1900’s. Although history points that the man on the box is Frank L. White a Chicago Chef, but an original character that was changed in the 1920’s was a fictional character.
