CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A routine patrol on East Main Street resulted in the arrest of a local man on an active felony warrant and the seizure of suspected narcotics on November 1, 2026.
According to a police report filed by Officer Lance Canterbury, officers were on patrol in the 700 block of East Main Street when they pulled in behind a tan Buick bearing Ohio registration KYQ5532. A routine check of the license plate through LEADS revealed the vehicle was registered to Brian Lehman, who had an active felony warrant issued by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.
Officer Canterbury initiated a traffic stop just west of Wade Street. The driver identified himself as Brian Lehman, and his identification card matched the name and birthdate on the active warrant. Dispatch and the Ross County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the active felony indictment warrant (Case No. 26S100-04-07) for possession of drugs. Lehman was safely detained in handcuffs.
During the stop, Lehman admitted to having marijuana inside the vehicle. When questioned by officers about a white powder residue observed on a cell phone on the driver’s side floorboard, Lehman acknowledged it was narcotics, potentially methamphetamine (“ice”). He also directed officers to a cup holder near the center console, stating additional drugs belonging to an acquaintance might be located there.
A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a black tube with white powder residue—commonly used as a tooter—on the passenger-side floorboard in plain view. Inside the designated cup holder, officers recovered two folded packets of aluminum foil containing an opaque crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine. The suspected narcotics have been confiscated and will be sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) for confirmatory testing before additional charges are filed.
Lehman was transported without incident to the Ross County Jail, where he was formally served with his indictment paperwork and notice of disability.
