Clark County – Two Teens Killed in Head On Collision

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle double fatal crash that occurred Friday, April 21st, at approximately 4:02 p.m. The crash occurred on U.S. Route 68 near mile post 8 in Springfield, Clark County.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2006 Honda Civic, operated by Taylor Haffner, 17, Springfield, was traveling north on U.S. Route 68 near mile post 8, and traveled off the left side of the roadway into the center median. The Honda continued through the center median into the southbound lanes of U.S. Route 68 and was struck by a 2017 Hyundai Tuscan, operated by Debra Knowles, 62, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Haffner and a passenger in the Honda, Osman Diaz, 17, Springfield, succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. Knowles and a passenger in the Hyundai, Jodi Knowles, 33, Colorado Springs, Colo., were transported by ground ambulance to Kettering Health Main Campus with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Springfield Township Fire Department & EMS, German Township Police Department, Springfield Police Department, Clark County Coroner’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation and Dan’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
