CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — The Pickaway County Republican Party is calling for an independent investigation into public allegations involving Ohio State Senate District 3 candidate Stacie Baker and an alleged incident at The Ohio State University in 2005.

The call comes after a Facebook post began circulating on social media Thursday in which an individual alleges she was sexually assaulted in 2005 by a person who she says is now running for state senate in Ohio’s 3rd District. The post identifies the candidate as Stacie Baker and states that the incident occurred on OSU’s campus.

In the post, the author states no criminal charges were filed and claims the university handled the matter through its disciplinary process, resulting in six months probation and a letter in his permanent record. The post urges voters in the 3rd District to consider the allegation when voting.

County Party Statement

In a statement dated October 31, 2026, Pickaway County Republican Party Chair Travis Ricketts said “serious allegations have surfaced publicly” involving Baker and an alleged incident at Ohio State in 2005.

The party said the individual making the allegations claims the university conducted a disciplinary process resulting in six months of probation and a permanent notation in the student’s university record.

“These claims raise serious questions that deserve answers,” the statement reads.

The party added:

“Sexual assault allegations must always be treated with the utmost seriousness. At the same time, fairness and due process demand that the facts be established before conclusions are reached. We are calling for a thorough, independent examination of these allegations, including any relevant university disciplinary proceedings, available law enforcement records, and the circumstances surrounding the university’s alleged disciplinary action.”

The statement also says Baker “deserves an opportunity to respond publicly to these specific allegations,” and that the matter is “too serious for speculation, political gamesmanship, or silence.”
