
CIRCLEVILLE, OH — While many residents were at the polls for the primary election on Tuesday, May 5, the Circleville Police Department managed a steady stream of calls ranging from property crimes to violent disturbances.
In total, officers responded to 41 calls for service over the 24-hour period, according to media logs released this morning.
Crimes Against Property and Persons
The day was marked by several serious incidents that required formal reports:
- Breaking & Entering: Officers responded to Dunmore Road just after 11:00 AM following a report of a breaking and entering. A formal report was taken, though no suspect information was immediately released.
- Assault and Fights: Police were called to North Pickaway Street at 3:19 PM for an assault, which was subsequently turned over to another agency for handling. Later in the evening, at 6:01 PM, units responded to a fight on North Court Street where a report was filed.
- Trespassing: A trespassing report was initiated early Tuesday morning on South Court Street at 4:21 AM.
- Theft: A theft was reported on Walnut Street just after 4:00 PM.
Traffic Safety and Accidents
Tuesday afternoon saw a significant traffic incident on Logan Street. At 2:49 PM, officers responded to an accident with injuries. Following the investigation, at least one citation was issued. A later non-injury crash occurred on West Main Street at 5:14 PM, though it required no formal report.
The department also conducted several traffic stops throughout the day, resulting in multiple warnings and a citation on South Pickaway Street.
Juvenile Disturbance and Public Safety
Officers dealt with a surge of juvenile-related calls during the late afternoon and evening hours:
- A report was taken following a juvenile complaint on Chatham Road at nearly 9:00 PM.
- Complaints involving dirt bikes and ATVs were reported on East Main Street, but the individuals were gone on arrival (GOA).
- Additional threats and harassment calls involving juveniles were logged on East Franklin Street.
Other notable activity included a repossession on North Court Street, a parking complaint on Harrison Street that resulted in a report, and several “Extra Patrol” checks on East Main, East Ohio, and East Mound streets that all checked out okay.
