Authorities are investigating an incident involving a reported firearm threat at Poland Park on March 6, 2025. Officers were dispatched to a residence on McKeller Street after receiving reports of juveniles being threatened with a weapon.
According to statements gathered at the scene, a group of juveniles was playing basketball when a dispute broke out. One juvenile, along with another individual, allegedly began using racial slurs and making threats. A confrontation ensued, during which the two individuals ran into a nearby house, returning moments later with what appeared to be a handgun. Fearing for their safety, the other juveniles fled the scene.
Police were able to locate the residence, where they spoke with a parent of one of the involved juveniles. The juvenile in question admitted to retrieving what he described as a non-functional BB gun after allegedly being threatened himself. He claimed that he only pointed the BB gun at one individual in response to a threat but denied making threats toward the rest of the group.
Other witnesses provided conflicting accounts, with some stating that the juvenile had threatened multiple people and previously brandished what appeared to be a firearm in the park.
Officers recovered a black handgun-style BB gun from the juvenile’s home, which contained neither BBs nor a CO2 cartridge. The item was entered into evidence, though no charges have been filed at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
