AMANDA, Ohio — Emergency crews are currently battling a heavy residential structure fire in southwestern Fairfield County, with more than a dozen units reportedly dispatched to the scene.
The blaze broke out in the 5500 block of Drinkle Road SW, just south of Amanda. Early reports indicate a massive mutual aid response, with multiple departments responding to the call.
Rapid On-Scene Tactics
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and visible flames venting from the structure. Command immediately ordered a “surround and drown” approach to contain the spread.
Key details from the scene include:
- Water Supply: Because the area lacks hydrants, a tanker shuttle has been established to ferry water to the rural location.
- Active Fire Attack: Firefighters have pulled several hose lines and are currently drenching the exterior and surrounding the structure with water to prevent the fire from reaching nearby foliage or secondary buildings.
- Unit Count: More than 12 units from surrounding jurisdictions are either on-site or in transit to assist.
Traffic and Safety Advisory
Motorists are advised to avoid Drinkle Road SW and the immediate vicinity of Amanda to allow heavy fire apparatus and water tankers clear access to the scene.
There have been no immediate reports of injuries to residents or first responders. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time as crews continue to focus on suppression efforts.
