Two Vehicles Struck by Gunfire on I-71 South Near Grove City, Sheriff Heads Caution

GROVE CITY, Ohio — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after two vehicles were struck by gunfire Monday morning on Interstate 71 South near the Interstate 270 interchange and Stringtown Road.

Deputies responded to the area at approximately 7:26 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, following reports that two vehicles traveling southbound on I-71 had been hit by gunfire.

According to investigators, an unknown suspect reportedly fired multiple rounds from a moving vehicle before fleeing the area.

One of the victims told investigators they saw a dark gray or dark-colored SUV swerve onto the I-270 interchange at a high rate of speed. Investigators believe the SUV may be connected to the shooting, but no additional description of the vehicle or license plate information is currently available.

No injuries were reported.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Office detectives are actively investigating the incident. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from businesses and other locations in the surrounding area in an effort to identify the suspect and determine what led to the shooting.
