
CIRCLEVILLE, OH — The Circleville Police Department handled 28 calls for service on Monday, April 27, 2026, ranging from routine traffic issues to criminal investigations involving theft and fraud.
Vehicle Theft and Fraud Investigations
Property crimes and financial scams were a primary focus for officers yesterday:
- Stolen Vehicle: Officers responded to Caroline Court at 7:12 PM. Following an investigation, a formal report was filed for a stolen vehicle.
- Fraud Reports: Police were kept busy with three separate fraud complaints. While calls on East Franklin Street and East High Street resulted in no formal reports, a fraud complaint on Huston Street at 6:45 PM led to an official police report.
Traffic and Accidents
Monday saw several disruptions on the roadway, including accidents and mechanical failures:
- West Main Street Crash: A non-injury accident occurred just before 11:00 AM on West Main Street. Officers issued a citation at the scene.
- Other Collisions: Minor non-injury accidents were also reported on Tiger Drive and South Court Street, though neither required a formal report.
- Disabled Vehicles: Motorists required assistance on East Mound Street and South Pickaway Street during the morning and evening commutes.
- Drunk Driving: Early Monday morning (6:13 AM), a report of a drunk driver on North Court Street was handed over to another agency for processing.
Community Safety and Nuisance Calls
The department also managed a variety of safety checks and neighborhood complaints:
- 911 Hang-Ups: Officers responded to six different “911 hang-up” calls throughout the city. Most were “Checked Okay,” though one caller on East Circle Lane was gone on arrival.
- Trespassing: Two trespassing complaints were filed—one on Second Avenue (determined to be a civil matter) and another on West Corwin Street.
- Domestic and Juvenile Issues: Police responded to a juvenile complaint on North Court Street in the evening and a domestic trouble call on Abernathy Avenue at 9:22 PM.
Alarm Drops
Local businesses and residences on North Court Street, East Ohio Street, and West Main Street triggered automated alarms throughout the day and night; however, all locations were “Checked Okay” by responding officers.
