COLUMBUS, Ohio — In remembrance of the lives lost during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Governor Mike DeWine has ordered all U.S. and Ohio state flags to be flown at half-staff on Patriot Day.
The directive applies to all public buildings and grounds throughout the state and will be in effect from sunrise to sunset on Friday, September 11, 2026, marking the 25th anniversary of the tragedy.
In addition to lowering flags across Ohio, Governor DeWine has called on all residents to observe a statewide moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m.—the precise moment American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center—to honor the victims and reflect on the tragic events of that day.
