Liberty Township – The Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on SR 158 at the intersection of Blacklick Road. The crash occurred on August 18, 2020 at approximately 9:55AM.
Lindsay G. Baker, age 18, of Newark was traveling south on SR 158 in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Carol A. Martino, age 68, of Canal Winchester was traveling east on Blacklick Road in a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Ms. Martino failed to yield from a stop sign at SR 158 and was struck by Ms. Baker. Ms. Martino was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash.
Troopers from the Lancaster and Granville Posts of the Highway Patrol, along with Basil Joint Fire and EMS, and the Ohio Department of Transportation responded to the scene. The Highway Patrol urges all motorists to avoid distractions while driving and to use all available safety equipment. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
