Dayton Police Detective in Grave Condition From Shooting Most Likely Not Survivable

DAYTON – On November 4 Detective Jorge DelRio was shot twice in the head while performing a drug bust on Ruskin Road. When Police entered the house after announcing themselves and having a search warrant DelRio was shot when entering the basement by Nathan Goddard, Jr who was hiding there. Police immediately took DelRio to the hosptial by cruiser. Four people were arrested Nathan Goddard Jr., Courtney Allen, Chase Cotner Sr., and Lionel Combs III and police seized three loaded guns, around 13 kilos of fentanyl mixed cocaine, 51 pounds of marijuana and over 50,000 dollars in cash. Detective Jorge DelRio a 30-year veteran is not expected to recover from the injuries sustained. “Our community has already endured too much senseless tragedy this year, and the Dayton Police Department has risen to the task each time. In light of that, violence striking the department directly is especially painful. I know that the Dayton community joins me in sending our prayers and thoughts to Officer Jorge DelRio and his family, as well as his colleagues at Dayton Police, said Mayor Nan Whaley in a facebook post. Dayton over the summer months has dealt with many other major tragedies, A mass murder situation,and a tornado.
