Woman Held in Fairfield County Jail Charged with Murder

Columbus, OH (February 20, 2024) – A domestic dispute escalated into a tragic shooting in east Columbus on Monday afternoon, claiming the life of a young man.

21-Year-Old Succumbs to Injuries:

Officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex near Tussing Elementary School shortly before 2 PM. They found 21-year-old Jahaad Hughes lying on the ground. He was transported to Mount Carmel East hospital, but sadly passed away from his injuries just over an hour later.

Suspect in Custody:

Authorities identified the suspect as 44-year-old Laquandra Williams, who was apprehended at the scene without incident. Ms. Williams currently faces charges of murder and is being held in the Fairfield County jail.

Investigation Underway:

Columbus Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. While they believe the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute, no further details have been officially released.
