It is with great appreciation and a sad heart that we say good-bye to Pastor Wendell Brown as the Senior Pastor of Heritage Nazarene. Pastor Brown has taken a position as the District Superintendent of the North Central Ohio District where he will provide oversight and direction to 63 Nazarene Churches in 22 counties in Ohio. He and his family will be relocating to the Mount Vernon, Ohio area in the days ahead and we wish him the best in this transition to expanded leadership responsibilities. He has served Heritage Nazarene Church faithfully since 2009.

Under Pastor Brown’s leadership Heritage Nazarene Church has grown from a church in the 400’s to a church where about 1,000 people gather to worship Christ together on a weekly basis; opened two additional campuses in Waverly and Chillicothe; started a ministry called Tragedy into Triumph that has been nationally simulcasted reaching nearly 90,000 people in two years; expanded New Hope Christian Academy from a K-8 school to a K-12 school that graduated its first class in 2017. More importantly, over the last eight years, God has used Heritage Nazarene to help close to 1,800 people make a decision
to ask Christ into their lives.

Regarding this transition, Pastor Brown stated, “It is extremely difficult to leave a place that you love, and I absolutely love the people of Heritage Nazarene Church and the community of Circleville. We have been privileged to develop strong community partnerships and I believe that Heritage Nazarene Church is poised to do even greater things in the days ahead to make a difference in the lives of the residents of Pickaway County. Heritage Nazarene Church has the most dedicated people that I have ever seen, and their love for Christ and each other will continue to impact this community for many
years to come. Any success we have had as a church, is because our people love Jesus and want to follow his heart of love for the world.”

Heritage Nazarene Church’s mission is to, “Glorify God by making Christ-like Disciples…”, and that mission will continue as a search begins to replace Pastor Brown’s leadership. During the interim, Pastor Dave Gray (Youth Pastor) will oversee preaching duties on Sunday mornings and our great pastoral team will continue to lead the church to help people find hope and help in Jesus Christ.

Pastor Brown’s last Sunday with Heritage Nazarene Church will be September 17th with worship services at 9:15 and 10:45, and we are asking for any whose lives have been impacted by his ministry to come and join us in this day of celebration. Finally, the church would like to invite any from the community who wish to show appreciation to Pastor
Brown and his family, to join us for a dessert reception on September 17th from 1 to 4 pm in gym #2 at our 2264 Walnut Creek Pike location.

These are great days, as Pastor Brown is modeling what it means to be sent out, and we want to celebrate with him God’s faithfulness and leading for His life and believe that God is faithful in His leading of Heritage Church in this transition.
