Two Injured in Fairfield County Plane Crash This Morning

Liberty Township – On Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at approximately 0930 hours, the Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a report of an aircraft crash near the intersection of SR256 and SR37 in Liberty Township, Fairfield County.

Matthew Leupp was operating a single-engine, two seat Aeronca 11AC aircraft when the plane struck a storage building upon landing in an airstrip close by. Mr. Leupp suffered rib injuries and his passenger, Michael Bollinger, was transported to Mount Carmel East with non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers from the Lancaster Post of the Highway Patrol, along with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, and Basil fire and EMS all responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation at this time. The FAA responded to the scene and is now conducting an investigation.
