LANCASTER, OHIO — The Salvation Army–Serving Lancaster & Fairfield County has been named a national recipient of a charitable donation from the Awakening Foundation, following a major faith-based concert event held locally.

The selection was announced in tandem with a stop of The Black Sheep Tour featuring musical artist Ben Fuller at the Fairfield Christian Church. The national tour spans nearly 30 shows across the country, with the Awakening Foundation designating a $500 donation to a vital local cause at each stop. The Salvation Army’s Lancaster and Fairfield County chapter was chosen as the sole recipient for the state of Ohio.

According to local leadership, the funds will be used to maintain operations and community ministries that directly support area seniors, at-risk youth, and the working poor.

“We feel honored to be chosen among so many deserving charitable organizations,” Captains Alex and Kelsey Senak of the local Salvation Army said in a statement. “The goal of this tour aligns with our intentions at The Salvation Army to bring people together in faith and fellowship, knowing they belong to Jesus Christ. This generous donation helps us pursue that continued mission in reaching people across Fairfield County.”

The Awakening Foundation, which partners with top faith-based event promoter Awakening Events, centers its national tours around a mission to combine live entertainment with community empowerment.

The donation marks another milestone for the local Salvation Army chapter, which has served the region for 125 years. The organization provides more than $1.5 million in annual services to thousands of Fairfield County residents. Representatives note that the nonprofit maintains high fiscal efficiency for local donors, with 82 cents of every dollar raised in Fairfield County going directly back into local service programs.
