CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — U.S. Rep. Dave Taylor met with the Ohio Trucking Association and regional industry executives in Chillicothe on Wednesday to address mounting economic headwinds and road safety issues facing the state’s freight sector.

The roundtable discussion, held at the Kenworth manufacturing facility, focused on regulatory burdens, workforce needs, and legislative efforts to improve safety for commercial drivers and motorists across southern and central Ohio.

“America’s trucking industry moves 11 billion tons of goods more than 300 billion miles each year, and serves as the backbone of our economy,” Taylor said during the meeting. “I was grateful to hear directly from Ohio’s trucking professionals today about the challenges they’re facing on the road and how I can best support them in Congress.”

Taylor, a freshman lawmaker representing Ohio’s 2nd Congressional District, serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and founded the bipartisan Congressional Trucking Caucus. Local executives at the meeting shared operational concerns and urged federal lawmakers to maintain rigorous Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) safety standards while supporting infrastructure investments across the region.

Prior to his election to Congress, Taylor worked as a Clermont County assistant prosecutor and later served as president of his family’s concrete business. His district spans 15 counties across southern and central Ohio, including Ross, Pickaway, Jackson, and Scioto counties.
