COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) will host a local public hearing on October 27 to gather community feedback regarding a proposed 51-mile high-voltage electric transmission line traversing Pike, Jackson, and Gallia counties.
The project, submitted by AEP Ohio Transmission Company, involves constructing a 765-kilovolt transmission line connecting the proposed Baku Substation to the existing Gavin Substation.
According to officials, the expanded infrastructure is specifically designed to power a planned data center campus in Piketon, Ohio. AEP noted that the data center developer has committed to paying for the necessary transmission infrastructure to prevent cost increases for general Ohio ratepayers.
