Gene Clark Jr.

O. Eugene “Gene” Clark Jr., age 69, of South Charleston, passed away on Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at Springfield Regional Medical Center.

He was born on Nov. 12, 1946, to the late Ovid E. Clark Sr. and Ruby (Neff) Clark in Circleville.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 45 years, Lois (Shaw) Clark; a son, Chris (Julie) Clark; a daughter, Chantal Battin; brother, Roger (Marsha) Clark of Ashville; sister, Patty Stiers of Hebron; Lois’ parents, Donald and Edna Shaw of South Charleston; grandchildren, Morgan (Matthew) Brown, Zachary Battin, Brian Armstrong, Kaleigh, Cody and Jenna Clark; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Cameron Brown; as well as his German Shepherd, Maddie. Also surviving are his uncle and aunt who had a significant influence on his life, Forrest and Kathleen Hoffman of Circleville.

Gene graduated from Williamsport High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Morehead Sate University. Gene retired from The Sygma Network and was very involved in his social fraternity Theta Chi. He was also an avid Cincinnati Reds and NASCAR fan.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, at Ingling Williams & Lewis Funeral Home, South Charleston, with a celebration of his life beginning at 4 p.m. Chaplain Tony Bailey will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Eta Gamma Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity, Morehead State University; or the Madison Township Fire and EMS Association in Gene’s honor.
