Rev. John G. Mittermaier, born to life Sept. 27, 1923; born to eternal life Jan. 10, 2016.
He was the loving husband of the late Joan Ott; Dear Dad to Alan (Linda) of Gahanna, Rev. John T. (Connie) of Springboro, Rev. Paul (Beth) of Germantown, Wisconsin, and Mary Ann (Michael) Debo of Ashville; and very proud Grandpa of Emily (Matt) Hoffman, Laura (Matt) Kerns, Jason, Chelse, Sarah and Adam Mittermaier and Evan, Eric and Erin Debo.
Pastor John graduated from Capital University and Lutheran Theological Seminary. He served Lutheran parishes in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Dayton and Fremont, Ohio, Evanston, Illinois and Circleville, Ohio.
His parents, Rev. J.G. and Beatta, and sister, Emma Frey, preceded him in death.
In addition to his children and grandchildren, he is survived by sisters, Martina (the late Earl) Himmeger, Eunice (John) Igo and Grace (the late Bob) Allen; plus wonderful nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
We’ll celebrate Christ’s victory over death as well as Pastor John’s life at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 E. Mound St., Circleville. The family will receive guests one hour before the service and from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening, Jan. 14, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home in Circleville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Trinity Lutheran Good Samaritan Fund; or the John and Joan Mittermaier Music Scholarship at Capital University, 2199 E. Main St., Columbus, OH 43209; or Emergency Clearinghouse of Pickaway County, 469 E. Ohio St., Circleville, 43113.
The Mittermaier family is grateful for all the loving kindness shown to our Dad by friends and caregivers, especially in this past year.
