Pike County Dogwood Festival is First on the List for Southern Ohio Festivals

OHIO – The Pike County Dogwood Festival, a beloved annual tradition celebrating the “Legend of the Dogwood Tree,” is set to enchant visitors in Piketon, Ohio, with its array of festivities.

Since its inception in 1971, the festival has been a beacon of community spirit, bringing together residents and visitors alike to usher in the spring season and embrace the beauty of the Dogwood trees in full bloom.

Scheduled to take place during the last full weekend in April, the festival promises a delightful lineup of events aimed at promoting the area’s rich history and fostering fellowship among attendees. From live entertainment to thrilling contests, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The opening ceremonies kick off on April 26th, with rides opening the following day. Festivities will continue until April 28th, offering three days of non-stop fun and excitement.

This year’s festival boasts an exciting schedule of events, including the highly anticipated 20th Annual Royalty Contest and the thrilling Dogwood bike ride, which starts at the Pike County government center. Attendees can also look forward to live performances by talented artists such as Tracey Rose, Jason Jobe, and the Satterfield Boys, as well as entertaining shows featuring the Mark Wood Fun Show and Dino Roar dinosaur entertainment.

Families with little ones can participate in the Disney-themed Baby contest and enjoy interactive experiences with animal ambassadors from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Meanwhile, history enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the past with the 8th Pennsylvania Regiment Civil War reenactment.

On Sunday, the festivities continue with more live performances, a Jeep Car Show, and a thrilling arm wrestling tournament, providing entertainment for attendees of all ages.

As part of the festival’s commitment to accessibility, parking at the fairgrounds is available for under $1, ensuring that everyone can join in the fun. Additionally, a new parade route will be announced, adding to the excitement of the event.
