PICKAWAY COUNTY, OH – An emotional and heartfelt evening unfolded at Pickaway Correctional Institution (PCI) on Friday, November 23rd, as the facility hosted its family engagement event, A Night in Harmony. The event, centered around the incarcerated men participating in the Harmony Choir, was a powerful showcase of music, emotion, and reconnection, as the men surprised their families with a special performance.

Dressed in custom suits provided by Pursuit, the choir members delivered a moving musical presentation that left many in the audience in tears. For many of the men’s families, this marked the first time in years they had seen their loved ones out of state-issued prison uniforms. The transformation was a poignant symbol of the men’s growth and dedication to their rehabilitation.

Following the choir’s performance, families were invited to enjoy a dinner and dessert together, further strengthening the bond between incarcerated individuals and their loved ones. The evening was filled with shared laughter, tears, and the warmth of reconnecting after long periods of separation.

This special event was made possible through the collaboration of several key partners. The Harmony Project, a community-based organization, played a crucial role in supporting the event, as did Pursuit, which provided the custom suits for the choir members. Whit’s Frozen Custard of Lancaster generously donated desserts, adding a sweet touch to the evening.

PCI staff also worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the event, creating a warm and welcoming environment for both the participants and their families.

“A Night in Harmony” not only celebrated the power of music to heal and transform but also highlighted the importance of family connections in the rehabilitation process. The event was a testament to the positive impact of family engagement and the opportunities for change within the correctional system.

Thank you to our partners at the Harmony Project, Pursuit, Whit’s Frozen Custard of Lancaster, and the dedicated staff at PCI for making this unforgettable evening possible.
