Starting December 3, the McRib will once again be available for a limited time at participating restaurants nationwide, giving fans a chance to savor the saucy, legendary sandwich that’s become a holiday tradition in its own right.
But that’s not all. McDonald’s is taking things to the next level with the introduction of A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce, a half-gallon jug of the iconic BBQ sauce that accompanies the McRib. For just $19.99, fans can now buy the sauce in a convenient, large-sized jug—perfect for dipping, pouring, or just enjoying McRib flavor all season long. The jugs will be available for online purchase starting November 25 at 10 a.m. ET, while supplies last.
“The McRib is more than just a sandwich—it’s a cultural event,” said Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s. “McRib SZN has become a holiday in itself, and this year, we wanted to embrace that spirit by giving our fans an even bigger way to celebrate with A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce.”
The McRib itself is made of a restructured boneless pork patty shaped to resemble a mini rack of ribs, topped with tangy barbecue sauce, onions, and pickles—an irresistible combination that has sparked fan loyalty for years.
The timing of the McRib’s return also comes on the heels of McDonald’s efforts to rebound from recent challenges. Last month, the company faced an E. coli outbreak linked to slivered onions on their Quarter Pounder burgers, which sickened at least 104 people across 14 states. The outbreak prompted a temporary removal of the Quarter Pounder from menus in affected regions before the item was reintroduced on October 29. As part of a broader strategy to restore customer confidence, McDonald’s has committed to investing $100 million in various initiatives, including special offerings like the McRib.
Customers can order the McRib directly through the McDonald’s app, at participating locations in-restaurant, or at the drive-thru. And for those looking to really get into the McRib spirit, McDonald’s will also release a McRib-themed holiday jingle titled “It Could Only Mean One Thing (McRib is Here).” The festive tune will be available to stream on all major music platforms.
