Knox County – An investigation of an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Zuck Rd. in Butler Township is ongoing.
On Monday August 22nd at approximately 8:31p.m. deputies received a call of a female that was attempting to force her way into a residence. When officers arrived they discovered the female had entered the house. She refused commands to come outside and at one point the suspect broke a window and pointed a shotgun toward the officers.
The suspect then fired multiple times before a deputy fired a single shot striking the suspect. The 41 year old female was transported by squad to Knox Community Hospital where she died. Information on the suspect is being withheld, pending family notifications.
Assistance at the scene was provided by the Danville Police Department and the Mount Vernon Police Department. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to conduct an independent investigation into the officer involved shooting.
