K9 Officer Mickey Retires After Six Years of Service with Ohio State Highway Patrol

Jackson, Ohio (February 28, 2024) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol announces the well-deserved retirement of K9 Mickey, a valuable member of the Jackson District for the past six years.

A Dedicated K-9 Officer:

  • Mickey, a seven-year-old German Shepherd, served his community faithfully from 2018 to 2024.
  • He played a crucial role in various operations, including tracking suspects, locating missing persons, searching for articles, detecting narcotics, and assisting in criminal apprehensions.

A Fond Farewell:

  • To celebrate his retirement, Mickey’s human partner, Trooper Matthew T. Atwood, and his family hosted a special party complete with a custom doggy cake.
  • Mickey will now enjoy his well-earned retirement life on the farm with Trooper Atwood and his family.
