Four Tornadoes Confirmed Across Ohio Following Wednesday Morning Storms

Wilmington, Ohio (February 28, 2024) – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington, Ohio, has confirmed that four tornadoes touched down across the state on Wednesday morning, causing damage in several counties.

Tornado Details:

  • Blacklick, Franklin County: An EF-2 tornado initially touched down in the Blacklick area of Franklin County before weakening to EF-1 as it moved into Licking County. Further details, including wind speeds and path, are expected later today or tomorrow.
  • Riverside, Montgomery & Greene Counties: A tornado formed in the Riverside area of Montgomery County before continuing into Greene County and weakening. Additional information, including wind speeds and path, will be released later today or tomorrow.
  • Near Springfield, Clark County: An EF-2 tornado struck near Springfield in Clark County. The survey of the damage zone may extend to include reported damage near Summerford in Madison County. Further details are forthcoming later today or tomorrow.
  • Hilliard, Franklin County: An EF-1 tornado touched down in Hilliard, Franklin County, causing damage in a short path north of Roberts Road. Additional information, including wind speeds and path, will be released later today or tomorrow.

The NWS is expected to provide a final assessment with detailed reports, including estimated wind speeds and path data, later this evening or tomorrow.
