(ONN)- The fate of George Wagner IV, who is accused of killing eight members of the Rhoden/Gilley families in Pike County in April 2016, is now in the hands of the jury.

His mother Angela and brother Jake who took plea deals, are among those accusing him.And the defense used that to cast doubt on the prosecution’s case.

The defense claims that the state is trying an innocent man for his family’s actions, calling Angela and Jake Wagner liars and con artists. But prosecutors say guilt can mean more than pulling the trigger. The state did acknowledge that the jury spent a lot of time on suspects aside from George Wagner.

But prosecutors argue that was to show the jury how thorough the investigation was.

Pike County common Pleas Court Judge Randy Dearing closed out court proceedings Tuesday giving juror instructions.Jurors will begin deliberations at 8:30 Wednesday morning.
